Dr. Geetpriya Kaur: Bridging Pathology and Radiology in Oral Diagnostics

Dr. Geetpriya Kaur, an Oral Pathologist and academician, has contributed to this space through her work in oral pathology and radiology, including the initiation of Paradise Diagnostics — a centre focused on diagnostic services for oral healthcare.
A Journey Rooted in Oral Diagnostics
Dr. Kaur’s professional interests lie in the detailed work of oral pathology. With nearly a decade of experience in histopathology, she has held academic roles, including as a faculty member in the Department of Oral Pathology at the Institute of Dental Studies and Technologies (IDST) in Modinagar, India, where she was involved in both teaching and diagnostic practice.
Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical and Health Services Research at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), Portugal, under the supervision of Professor Rui Amaral Mendes, she continues to explore ways to strengthen diagnostic practices, particularly in oral carcinogenesis, by integrating histopathology with AI-driven models to enhance its prognostic value, improve risk stratification and support outcome prediction.
The Early Days of Paradise Diagnostics
The concept for Paradise Diagnostics began in 2014 during Dr. Kaur’s time as an honorary dentist at Hindu Rao Hospital in Delhi. With encouragement from colleagues and mentors, she began supporting the dental department with biopsy reports. Initially operating from a small setup at home, the idea evolved into establishing a centre that combined both Oral Radiology and Oral Pathology — an approach that was relatively new at that time.
This integration was based on the suggestion of Dr. K.S. Nagesh, her former principal at R V Dental College, who believed that combining these diagnostic services under one roof could benefit both patients and dental practitioners alike.
Addressing a Diagnostic Gap
A few years back, Oral Radiology and Pathology services were typically offered independently, leading to fragmented care and delays. Paradise Diagnostics was designed to bring both specialties together in one facility. This enabled a more coordinated approach to patient evaluation, with quicker turnaround times and integrated reporting.

In 2024, Paradise Diagnostics marked ten years of service. Over time, it has grown steadily, both in its operations and in its engagement with the wider dental community.
Looking ahead, there are ideas in motion — including cross-disciplinary collaborations, educational initiatives for students and practitioners, and exploring the role of advanced diagnostics like genetic testing. These are envisioned as gradual developments informed by both research and practical needs.
