India’s higher education ecosystem produces millions of graduates every year, but moving from a degree to a corporate career can still be challenging for students across colleges, cities, and academic backgrounds. Academic qualifications remain important, yet employers increasingly look beyond degrees for communication skills, analytical ability, workplace judgment, digital proficiency, and the ability to operate in professional environments.
Against this backdrop, Corporate Entrance Test (CET) 2027 is being introduced as a national-level platform designed to assess corporate readiness among final-year students and recent graduates in India.
An initiative by Startup Times, CET aims to create a structured connection between graduating talent and employers through a combination of national assessment, rankings, interviews, corporate training, employer evaluations, and global exposure.
Applications for the first CET cycle are scheduled to open on October 1, 2026, with the national written examination planned for January 31, 2027.
What Is the Corporate Entrance Test?
The Corporate Entrance Test is designed as a national assessment for students approaching graduation and recent graduates who want to understand their position in relation to corporate workplace requirements.
Unlike a conventional academic examination, CET focuses on a combination of aptitude, reasoning, communication, business awareness, and workplace decision-making.
The examination will assess candidates across five broad areas:
- Quantitative Aptitude and Numerical Ability
- Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
- Verbal Ability and English Comprehension
- General Awareness and Corporate Knowledge
- Workplace Judgment and Situational Reasoning
The exam is planned as a 90-minute, 100-question online examination, with each question carrying one mark. A negative marking system of 0.25 marks is proposed for every incorrect answer.
The inclusion of workplace judgment and situational reasoning is particularly relevant to CET’s stated objective of assessing “corporate readiness” rather than relying exclusively on conventional aptitude testing.
From College Credentials to Corporate Readiness
One of the central ideas behind CET is that a student’s college or degree alone may not provide a complete picture of their workplace readiness.
Students from different colleges can have very different levels of access to placement cells, corporate interactions, internships, mentorship, and professional networks. CET seeks to introduce a common assessment framework through which participating candidates can receive a national rank and percentile.
According to the platform’s proposed process, every candidate will receive a National Rank, percentile, and Corporate Readiness Report after the examination.
The report is intended to provide candidates with information about their strengths and areas for improvement rather than simply communicating whether they have qualified.
This creates a potentially useful feedback mechanism for students who may not have access to extensive career counselling or structured employer assessment through their institutions.
CET 2027: Key Dates
The first CET cycle is planned around a clearly defined annual timeline.
Applications are scheduled to open on October 1, 2026, and close on December 31, 2026. The written examination is scheduled for January 31, 2027.
Candidates shortlisted after the written examination will go through an online interview process between March 1 and March 31, 2027.
The final shortlist of 5,000 candidates is scheduled to be announced on April 15, 2027.
Those selected will then enter the three-month Corporate Launch Program beginning June 1, 2027, with the program scheduled to conclude on August 31, 2027.
The top 100 performers from the program are scheduled to be announced on September 1, 2027.
How the Selection Process Works
CET’s selection process is structured in multiple stages.
The first stage is the application, followed by the national written examination. Candidates then receive their rank and readiness report.
Shortlisted candidates move to the interview stage. The final selection of 5,000 candidates is based on a combined evaluation consisting of:
Written Examination — 60%
Interview Performance — 40%
This creates a two-stage assessment model, combining standardized testing with a more direct evaluation of communication and candidate suitability.
Importantly, the platform has proposed a separate evaluation system for selecting the top 100 candidates for its Dubai Global Experience.
The written examination and interview scores are not carried forward into the Dubai selection stage. Instead, the top 100 are determined by performance during the Corporate Launch Program, including training assessments, project work, and evaluations by participating employers.
The Corporate Launch Program
For the 5,000 selected candidates, CET proposes a three-month, fully online Corporate Launch Program.
The objective is to bridge the gap between academic education and workplace expectations through practical training, mentorship, projects, and employer interaction.
The proposed curriculum covers nine areas.
Professional communication and business writing will focus on email etiquette, documentation, presentations, and workplace communication.
Resume building and personal branding will cover CV development, LinkedIn optimization, and professional positioning.
Corporate etiquette will address workplace behaviour, communication norms, and collaboration.
Candidates will also receive practical exposure to digital and business tools such as Excel and PowerPoint.
Other modules include sales and negotiation, interview preparation, group discussions, domain foundations, live projects, case studies, and a final capstone evaluation.
The program is planned to be delivered through live sessions, recorded modules, mentor office hours, and employer interactions.
Connecting Candidates With Employers
A major component of the CET proposition is its stated network of 350+ employers across sectors such as IT and consulting, BFSI, manufacturing, and startups.
The platform describes these organizations as being involved in candidate evaluation and potential hiring rather than simply appearing as sponsors.
For candidates, this could create a structured opportunity to interact with employers during the training period.
At the same time, CET’s current public information makes an important distinction regarding employment outcomes: participation in the program does not guarantee a job.
Candidates may be evaluated for direct opportunities by participating employers, but hiring will depend on individual performance and employer requirements.
This distinction is particularly important for students evaluating career programs because training participation and guaranteed employment are fundamentally different outcomes.
What Candidates Receive
Candidates completing the Corporate Launch Program are expected to receive both a Training Certificate and a formal Internship Certificate.
They will also build an evaluation history through projects, assessments, and interactions with participating employers.
The program is intended to provide candidates with practical exposure that can complement their academic qualifications when they begin applying for corporate roles.
The platform also states that selected candidates will not have to pay an additional fee to participate in the Corporate Launch Program.
The initial CET examination fee is proposed at ₹499, inclusive of applicable charges.
A Global Experience for the Top 100
The international component is another distinctive element of the CET platform.
The Dubai Global Experience is planned as a fully sponsored, five-night, six-day corporate immersion program for the top 100 performers of the Corporate Launch Program.
The experience is intended to expose participants to international business environments and provide opportunities to interact with industry professionals.
The proposed experience includes corporate visits, interactive workshops, meetings with global business leaders, cultural exposure, and networking opportunities.
The selection for this experience is separate from the initial CET examination ranking.
That means a candidate who enters the Corporate Launch Program does not simply rely on their original exam score to qualify for Dubai. Instead, their performance during the three-month program becomes the basis for the final top-100 selection.
Who Can Apply?
CET is designed for final-year students and recent graduates from recognized colleges and universities in India.
The proposed eligibility framework does not include a minimum percentage or CGPA requirement, allowing candidates from different academic backgrounds to participate in the assessment.
The platform is intended to remain open across academic disciplines rather than restricting participation to a specific degree.
Candidates can also indicate their preferred industries and job functions during the application process. Areas may include IT, BFSI, consulting, manufacturing, startups, sales, marketing, operations, technology, and finance.
This information is intended to support candidate personalization and potential employer matching during later stages of the program.
Why Corporate Readiness Is Becoming Important
The transition from education to employment has become more complex as employers increasingly assess candidates across multiple dimensions.
A graduate may have strong academic knowledge but still need development in professional communication, interview performance, teamwork, digital tools, or workplace decision-making.
Similarly, students from smaller institutions may have fewer opportunities to interact directly with employers.
A national platform such as CET is designed around the idea of creating a common assessment and development pathway.
Its proposed model combines testing, feedback, training, employer evaluation, and global exposure within a single journey.
Whether such a model can achieve its intended scale will ultimately depend on execution, employer participation, assessment quality, transparency, and the experience delivered to candidates.
Building a National Talent Pipeline
CET is being positioned around a large-scale national participation model, with the platform targeting 1,00,000 students, 5,000 places in the Corporate Launch Program, and 100 places on the Dubai Global Experience.
The broader objective is to create a pipeline through which employers can discover candidates beyond traditional campus recruitment channels.
For students, the proposition is centered on visibility, assessment, training, and access.
For employers, the model is intended to provide another channel for identifying graduates based on standardized assessment and observed performance.
For India’s broader talent ecosystem, initiatives of this kind reflect the growing emphasis on employability alongside formal educational qualifications.
Applications Open October 1
The first CET cycle is scheduled to accept applications from October 1 to December 31, 2026.
The examination fee is ₹499, and the national written examination is scheduled for January 31, 2027.
Candidates considering CET should review the eligibility requirements, examination pattern, syllabus, system requirements, selection criteria, and official terms before applying.
The Corporate Entrance Test represents an attempt to bring assessment, corporate training, employer interaction, and international exposure together under one national platform.
As the first CET cycle progresses, the platform’s outcomes — including candidate performance, employer participation, training results, and subsequent hiring activity — will provide important indicators of how effectively the model connects India’s graduate talent pool with corporate opportunities.
For students preparing to enter the workforce, the larger question is no longer only where they studied or what degree they earned, but also how effectively they can demonstrate the skills required in a professional environment.
