Year 2022 has had 4 eclipses, 2 solar eclipses and 2 lunar eclipses. After the partial solar eclipse on October 25, 2022, the planet will experience the full cycle of a total lunar eclipse on November 8, 2022.
Eclipses are rare because they can only take place when the Sun, the Earth and the Moon are all aligned. They always happen in groups of two or three. A lunar eclipse happens when the Moon and the Sun are on exact opposite sides of Earth. There are four to seven eclipses every calendar year. Typically, there are two eclipse seasons.
Yogi Priyavrat Animesh of Ooj Foundation dissected the spiritual significance of this rare cosmic phenomenon.
He explained that the eclipses come in pairs. The cycle made onset on October 25 with a partial solar eclipse on the new moon, the completion of this cycle will now be on the full moon. Human body is largely water and moon have a certain impact on water, the way we see its impact on the sea in terms of tides. Usually, energy of an eclipse can lasts up to 3 months.
In terms of energy channelization, a lunar eclipse can be an extremely powerful time for cleansing of accumulated samskaras and setting in renewal and rejuvenation. Sometimes evolved energy points can bring about sudden changes.
Symbolic meaning of Eclipse also means that a thing or surface is not seen clearly. Lack of clarity allows several thoughts and feelings to stem up and thus unconscious realm is opened for self-reflection. This gives an opportunity for our current emotions to be revealed, readjusted, and set in line with our harmony. To release is part of “letting go” and Indian spiritual system talks of this detached existence which allows to let go.
Change is constant. We talk about growth and change and letting go of the things that no longer serve us with hope. But the reality is, change is uncomfortable and can bring up a lot of fear of the unknown. This is where the role of a Guru is critical who helps us steer through these fears and take the step forward towards the Divine.
Mental meditation at the time of Eclipse gives results that are manifold.
Yogi ji mentions that while in ritualistic parlance the earth is considered contaminated; the spiritual reason for following abstention is to match the time that one eclipse allows. The mental meditation is faster and deeper than outwardly rituals.
The Abstention or Sutak is followed twelve hours before Solar Eclipse and during nine hours before Lunar Eclipse till Eclipse is over. Sutak is observed only when Eclipse is visible at the place under discussion.
By developing a spiritual practice that is founded in energy channelization seasonal cycles are brought under harmony resulting in peace.
For information of readers, Yogi Animesh ji implements these virtues in the practitioners through various channelization techniques like meditation, rituals, chanting, asanas, and much more. He believes that through self-discipline, even the higher goals in life can be achieved and his philosophy and ways of life are open to anyone who is facing a time of crisis and wants to be better in life.
