STERLING HEIGHT, Mich. – A heated argument between a brother and sister took a fatal turn Friday as gunfire erupted at a Sterling Heights business.
The incident happened at a business located on 19 Mile near Mound Road in Sterling Heights on Friday around 9 a.m.
The sister, identified as a 54-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The brother involved in the incident has been taken into custody while the prosecutor examines the case.
Fadi Tatar, a neighbor whose family runs a business next door, expressed his shock and grief, saying: “Rest in peace.”
Tatar witnessed the shooting followed by frantic efforts by doctors to revive the woman. He said: “I saw the man crying; it was very sad to watch.”
According to Sterling Heights police, the shooting happened during an argument between the siblings at their family business. The company, known as Kath, operates in the soap manufacturing industry and is associated with a family entertainment center called Regal Palace.
Lieutenant Mario Bastianelli expressed his condolences to the affected family, saying: “Of course it is very unfortunate for the family and you know, obviously, the family of the deceased. Our hearts and prayers go out to them. I’m sure this will all be resolved in the end.”
Bastianelli described the chaotic scene, noting, “As you can see, it all happened in the parking lot, with people shooting each other in all different directions and rounds flying everywhere.”
The police have confirmed that the brother and sister fired firearms during the clash. However, the brother did not suffer any gunshot wounds.
At the moment, no charges have been filed and the case is under consideration by the prosecution.
