Virginia Tech’s top tight end Nick Gallo plans to return for the 2023 season, he announced on Twitter Wednesday night.
“I am excited to announce that I will be returning to Virginia Tech for the 2023 season,” Gallo said. “There is still much more that I want to achieve personally and as a team. I look forward to working with my teammates and pursuing our goals for this upcoming season. This is home. Thank you Hokie Nation@ Let’s Go!”
Gallo, a Class of 2019 recruit, played in 11 games during his true rookie season, mostly appearing on special teams. During the 2020 season, Gallo started four games on the season, totaling 11 receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown.
During the 2021 season, Gallo became the primary tight end for Virginia Tech’s offense, starting 11 games in the season. He recorded 14 receptions for 130 yards on the season.
In 2022, Gallo became a top target for Grant Wells in the Tyler Bowen-led Hokies offense. Gallo recorded 30 receptions on the season for 256 yards and was second on the team in receptions.
