The multiverse has spun through our imaginations like so many twinkling threads of magic in recent months, thanks to the many cinematic feasts and twists and turns that send us to all sorts of places, encompassing all at once. Time and place in the process.
But a lot of time and space can easily be covered by hand by visiting the corner of Third and Fairfax any day of the year.
Since 1934, the original Farmers Market has had a sweet grip on our snack-loving world, meaning it’s had legs, or maybe a “fork,” that’s been appropriate for many different eras at once.
The Clock Tower is always a shock, in short, still boasting retro architecture and throwbacks, all while maintaining a modern and optimistic outlook, with fresh food, new dishes and new ways to entertain visitors.
Dapper Day brings that excitement to the masses on Thursday, August 11 when Jumpin’ Joes delivers live rocking music made for dancing.
Dance and Sash and Pretend and Admire, that is, a free-to-attend event with its best fashion sense, a celebration of all sartorial eras and contemporary fans who dig the fun and humor of dressing up.
So don your favorite dress or outfit from the 1940s, 1970s or today and make your way to the original Farmers Market for two hours of beautiful sauntering, fun events and dining in an alfresco atmosphere.
The food, by the way, takes some money, but getting into the main farmers market?
You’ll have to travel through countless multitudes to find a better or at least comparable admission price: it’s free.
And if you arrive before the music starts? Set the top floor of the market as a social hub for the dapper day crowd (starting at noon).
Dapper Day has become popular with twice-yearly Disneyland Resort events, and pop-ups at other Southern California venues such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
But the upcoming Original Farmers Market Summit? Sweet: A dapper date gathering for the green-covered, panic-stricken place.
Call it a gathering of like-minded people, fans of vintage-vivacious fashion and a charming place for fun, fresh air, delicious food, and a good, neighborhood-y spirit.
