In recent months there has been a massive wave of layoffs across the tech industry.
Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Salesforce, Meta and Twitter are among the tech companies that have recently announced thousands of job cuts.
On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Jerry Kane, a professor of Management Information Science at the University of Georgia and an expert on technology-driven transitions in the workplace, told host Rose Scott that there will always be need people who have skills and are tech literate – but says the tech industry was overwhelmed during the pandemic.
“As things get back to normal, they have to recalibrate what the economic expectations are,” Kane said.
During the conversation, he further explained why he ultimately thinks the tech industry will continue to grow in Georgia.
