According to various media reports, users of social media giant Twitter are facing many problems accessing the application and cannot use many features available on the platform. The outages and accessibility issues at Twitter are just days after the social media company announced further strikes.

Many users have reported seeing a welcome message when they access the Twitter platform, which reads, “Welcome to Twitter! This is the best place to see what’s happening in your world. Now search for some people and topics. This message typically appears to new users who are not following anyone on the forum. The version of the Twitter app also featured a similar message with a “Let’s Go” button directing users to a list of suggested users to follow.

After users first encountered the welcome message when they opened the platform, they had trouble finding their feed posts on Twitter. They couldn’t actually see the posts of people they followed from within their profiles, and while users could still tweet from the account’s main page, there was no feed to view their own tweets. Twitter’s search feature was reportedly unreliable during this period.

Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter

Twitter recently laid off nearly 200 employees as part of CEO Elon Musk’s strategy to reduce operating costs at the social media company. In the year Since Musk took over as CEO of Twitter in 2022, the total number of employees has decreased by 75%. Although there is no direct evidence linking the recent layoffs to layoffs, news reports suggest that various significant departments within the social network are currently understaffed.

Twitter has experienced several outages in recent months, affecting its website and mobile app. The company cited technical issues for these service interruptions and apologized to its users. The most recent major outage occurred on February 25, 2023 and lasted for several hours, affecting users worldwide.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc and SpaceX, acquired Twitter on October 27, 2022 for $44 billion. Musk initially accepted an invitation to join Twitter’s board of directors before making an unsolicited offer to buy the company. On Twitter, Musk plans to introduce new features, open source algorithms, fight spam bot accounts, and promote free speech.
