What you need to know
- “Astra Lumina” is twinkling at the South Coast Botanic Gardens
- Until January 29, 2023; 6 to 10 p.m

Charting our course to the moon and the stars beyond would require a series of complex steps, we imagine, and returning home? Also a time-consuming task, which is something to consider, especially during the busy holiday season.
But we can stay grounded on this planet and find our way to the South Coast Botanic Gardens, where a delightful cosmic experience is shining every night.
Astra Lumina, designed by the effects wizards at Moment Factory, is an ethereal journey into nature, lit up by illuminated displays.
These spots have a soft, space-sweet feel, like you’ve stepped onto a planet that looks more like our own, with plants and trees, but overgrown with holiday cheer.
The walk around this bright space takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Just like booking a trip to the moon, you’ll want to book your ticket to the Palos Verdes Peninsula event ahead of time, and definitely on weekend nights.
