New Delhi: Designer JJ Valaya, known for his grand designs and rich aesthetic, showcased his collection ‘Alma’ on Day 3 of FDCI India Couture Week 2022. This collection showcases JJ’s thirty years in fashion. Whether digging deep into our own culture or taking inspiration from the rest of the world, historical influences have always been an integral part of Valayas’ design language.
For this line, the designer has introduced elements of Spain through his collections which mainly consist of embroidered lehengas, printed saris and embellished jackets. Floral headdresses, elaborate jewelry and the music complement the outfits beautifully.
The highlight of this outdoor highlight was the play of colors and elegant prints and patterns. From traditional reds, bright blues and emerald greens to lighter shades of ivory and peach, this collection truly celebrates the larger than life design journey.
“Every year my inspirational journeys begin somewhere deep in my soul and are triggered by something visible. This is where I begin my research, looking at the visual resources I find in books and travels,” said the designer.
