Precincts reported that all the “bongs, papers and some other things around the store” were stolen. “They found a piece of our product and dropped it on the street. It looks like they’re standing,” says a comment from the business.

The surroundings sell cigars, cigar accessories, glass pipes, candles, incense and unique gifts.

Downtown Delights is an ice cream shop that opened in August 2021.

“I’m so mad that this happened to Downtown Delights,” said a post from owner Tracy Judkins on the Downtown Delights Facebook page. “Not how I imagined it would end. So I thank (the Manistee Police Department) for boarding my windows and doing their best to contact me while I’m out of town. If anyone saw anything suspicious in the west end of River Street last night, please report.”

Downtown Delights was scheduled to close Sunday due to a pending sale of the building. However, according to its Facebook post, the business sold out of the ice cream on Saturday and stated, “Today will be our last day as we are almost out of inventory.”

A breaking and entering was reported at another downtown business in early January.

James Beaudrie, co-owner of Manistee Beverage Company, posted a video on social media after the Jan. 3 break-in saying someone had thrown a rock through the window of the River St. business. 401 and had stolen Fireball Whiskey.

The cost of the damage and lost products totaled about $1,500, Beaudrie previously told the News Advocate.

It is not clear if these incidents are related. The News Advocate has reached out to the Manistee Police Department for more information.
