MANISTEE — Two downtown Manistee businesses were vandalized over the weekend.
Windows were blown out at the surrounds, located at 423 River St., and Downtown Delights, at 457 River St.
“It was our turn to get robbed last night. There were four of them. Our alarm system alerted us at 3 a.m. Yes, we have a lot of video footage. Working with ADT to collect now,” a Facebook post read. of the Circle. page.
Precincts reported that all the “bongs, papers and some other things around the store” were stolen. “They found a piece of our product and dropped it on the street. It looks like they’re standing,” says a comment from the business.
The surroundings sell cigars, cigar accessories, glass pipes, candles, incense and unique gifts.
Downtown Delights is an ice cream shop that opened in August 2021.
“I’m so mad that this happened to Downtown Delights,” said a post from owner Tracy Judkins on the Downtown Delights Facebook page. “Not how I imagined it would end. So I thank (the Manistee Police Department) for boarding my windows and doing their best to contact me while I’m out of town. If anyone saw anything suspicious in the west end of River Street last night, please report.”
Downtown Delights was scheduled to close Sunday due to a pending sale of the building. However, according to its Facebook post, the business sold out of the ice cream on Saturday and stated, “Today will be our last day as we are almost out of inventory.”
