BRIDGEPORT – Southwest Community Health Center has opened its seventh location in the city.
The 6,500-square-foot clinic at 1020 Fairfield Ave., which officially opened last week, offers immediate treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses. It houses six medical examination rooms.
Samuel Diaz III, who oversees the organization’s marketing, said his organization found in surveys and focus groups over the past two years that patients were trying to get to urgent care centers outside of Bridgeport.
Diaz said the center’s location near a bus stop makes it accessible to those without a vehicle. The clinic also offers services on a sliding fee scale, based on income and family size, if patients don’t have health insurance, he said.
“They will have an opportunity to talk to a provider and get quality health care no matter what their socioeconomic status is,” Diaz said.
The center is open from 8.30am to 4.30pm on weekdays and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
Southwest Community Health Center offers medical, dental and behavioral health care services at six other locations in the Bridgeport area. Executives say its clinics receive about 200,000 visits a year.
“We’ve been in Bridgeport for 45 years and this is the first site we’ve opened that’s dedicated to same-day care. We’re really, really bringing health care to our community and making it more accessible than ever,” Mollie Melbourne, chief executive officer of Southwest Community Health Center, said in a statement.
