New York-based Chinese designer Rui Zhou showed her Fall/Winter 2023 collection at Paris Fashion Week at Galerie Bertrand Grimont titled “Toward an Infinite Flow” for her label RUI, exploring body contours and three-dimensional silhouettes.
The latest runway show was an extension of the rich creative’s signature style, featuring body-hugging sweaters with detailed detailing. The opening look came in a beige and pink palette, with a bodysuit paired with a mid-length skirt and faded pants. In true RUI fashion, ultra-mini bras were layered with fishnet skirts, while a black crop top with round cut-outs revealed a layer of gray underneath. The contrast of the top saw with a curved three-dimensional belt wrapping around the waist of the model – this element is more explored in the form of a bag and attached to the dress and height.
In addition to shapes, Zhou played with texture throughout the collection, with velvet, wool, mohair and cashmere popping up on the runway. Bodywear was contrasted with puffer boleros, along with wool and cashmere sweaters, offering the designer’s signature ribbed sweaters perfect for fall and winter. The runway closed with a gray velvet dress with a mohair hood and sleeves, featuring a dramatic silhouette with a train.
