- Many people say that ‘it should not be worn for a wedding’
A young businesswoman has been slammed for wearing an ‘inappropriate’ wedding dress.
Olivia Burroughs Sutherland, from Melbourne, asked her 73,000 TikTok followers for advice on what to wear just hours before the weekend event.
The 29-year-old bought a $525 rust-colored dress from Zimmerman last minute and wasn’t sure which top to pair it with — a black strappy crop top or a beige bandeau bra top.
She chose the latter because it was a 37 degree day. But in the comments of the posted video, many shared what they really thought and believed the top ‘shouldn’t be worn to a wedding’.

Olivia Burroughs Sutherland bought a $525 rust-colored dress from Zimmerman last minute and wasn’t sure which top to pair it with — a black strappy crop top or a beige bandeau bra top.

She chose the latter as it was a 37 degree day over the weekend. But many believed it was ‘inappropriate’ for a wedding climax on TikTok.
Olivia, who co-founded MyGlow2 and is known for sharing fashion videos on social media, faced some backlash as many said the outfit looked “basic” and was “too close to white”.
She had the option of buying the $475 matching cropped bodice top from Zimmerman, but thought it would be ‘too much’ for a wedding guest to wear.
Her last two outfit options were also last minute as one dress she bought didn’t arrive on time and the other had long sleeves.
Olivia told news.com.au: “I didn’t expect the dress to be so controversial, but I know when it comes to weddings and wedding guest outfits, everyone has an opinion.”
‘I understand this isn’t a traditional wedding guest look, but fashion has evolved, and two-piece ensembles have become popular options for guests to wear to events.’

Olivia is the co-founder of MyGlow2 and is known for sharing fashion videos on social media.
The video has since been viewed more than 220,000 times and attracted hundreds of comments.
The dress is gorgeous, sorry the tops don’t look wedding appropriate! Someone wrote in the comments.
Another agreed and said, ‘I will not wear this top to a wedding.’
A third said: The dress is amazing. High no. They were disappointing.’
Another encouraged Olivia to wear a top that matched the dress.
The woman wrote: ‘I feel this is a bit basic, you should wear a matching top – I’m sure it will look amazing and still be suitable for the wedding.
Despite his reaction, others said Olivia looked ‘weird’.
“Beige is great, it looks simple and elegant! I think it’s totally appropriate for a wedding!’ One said.
“So many negative comments my goodness! The beige looks amazing with him, wear whatever you’re comfortable with,” said another.
The dress has a lot of presence and I think the tops are perfect. Any color would work well with the accessories,’ added another.
