NuLu Business Association President Rick Murphy said they have caught Lester Terry breaking into businesses on video surveillance over the past five years.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – NuLu business owners breathed a sigh of relief after Louisville Metro Police arrested the man accused of multiple burglaries in the area Thursday.
Owner Andy Blieden claimed that Lester Terry entered his buildings, ‘Cultured’ and ‘Jaclyn Journey Design Studio’ several times.
“I hope he stays behind bars for a while because if he gets out, I’m worried he’ll do it to the same people again,” he said. “The boy is a threat to society.”
Nulu Business Association president Rick Murphy said they have caught Terry breaking into businesses on video surveillance over the past five years.
“He doesn’t get any of this for talking. Just a couple hundred bucks or a couple bucks, and maybe a bottle of whiskey,” Murphy said.
According to court documents, Terry is charged with theft and criminal mischief in connection with a July 3 incident where he is accused of breaking into the Pyro Gallery and stealing money.
Police said eight burglaries were reported at NuLu since mid-July and they are working to determine if Terry is responsible for all of them.
“I’m very, very glad he got caught because he does a lot of damage to the businesses he goes into,” Murphy said.
Murphy said he and the owners plan to buy better security systems and are looking at ways to create a small property tax that will help pay for nightly security.
“That’s a big comfort to business owners is that quick response that we can promise them on those kinds of late-night, early-night issues,” he said.
