The Far North Fashion Show drew a crowd to the Anchorage Museum’s atrium Thursday night. The fashion show, now in its fourth year, showcased works by indigenous designers and indigenous models ranging from traditional to contemporary to experimental.
The Anchorage Museum has partnered with the Arctic Encounter Symposium this week at the Denana Center for the event.
Designers Corinne Danner, Alana Jones, Diana Martin, Clara Kwaluk McConnell, Jackie Catalina Shaffer and Myrna Lomac Wharton showcased their creations.
“It’s a little bigger than the crowd this year, but it’s always fun,” says McConnell, who combines modern designs with traditional Inupiaq elements such as fox, suede, beadwork and fish skin.
