With royal tours and numerous engagements in the diary, the Princess of Wales has been busy in 2022 – and her wardrobe was more than up to the challenge.
From colorful dresses and vintage-chic looks to black mourning dresses, Kate’s fashion has been stylish all year round.
But which outfit piqued our interest the most? There were special days of the year when we turned to Google to find out more about what Kate was wearing. These are the main days – and matching outfits – we’ve been searching for Kate’s fashion.
1. For the queen’s funeral
For the Queen’s funeral in September, Kate wore a black Alexander McQueen coat dress with a wide hood and veil.
Pearls are traditionally worn by royals in mourning, and Kate accessorised her look with the late Queen’s Japanese pearl choker necklace – which she also wore to Prince Philip’s funeral last year.
2. For the Jubilee celebrations
Kate has released a series of enviable outfits for her platinum jubilee celebrations in June, and the one that has people rushing to Google is the pastel yellow Emilia Wickstead dress she wore to the thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral.
The elegant midi dress featured a wrap under the bust and was paired with a matching hat by Philip Treacy and Bahraini pearl drop earrings – 2018.
3. For the Queen’s service
Prior to the Queen’s funeral, Kate attended a service for the late royal at Westminster Abbey. She kept her outfit simple – a black Catherine Walker coat dress, with a pearl and diamond brooch.
4. On the Platinum Jubilee page
Kate chose raspberry Stella McCartney to look the part and continued her run in a colorful jubilee outfit for the page. The cut of the dress was very daring – long puff sleeves, high neck and midi length, but the bright color made it feel more interesting.
While her fans went wild for her outfit, four-year-old Prince Louis was almost heartbroken – struggling to sit still during the two-hour race.
5. At a charity polo match
Proving the midi dress is always her go-to, the day after Kate stepped out in a white version to see the Prince of Wales play at a charity polo match.
For the event, she turned to one of her favorite designers, Emilia Wickstead, and looked beautiful in a simple white dress with black piping.
6. Leaving the Bahamas
Kate switched up her style for the royal tour of the Caribbean in March – rocking some slouchy midi dresses and travel-friendly dresses, she was also a bit more experimental with vintage finds and unusual colours.
The most sought-after outfit from the trip was the yellow Alessandra Rich dress she wore while leaving the Bahamas. With puff sleeves, peplum detailing and a bow down the front, the vibe was distinctly eighties-inspired – and very different from the images we’re used to seeing Kate.
While most of Kate’s outfits will sell out immediately, this one is still available to buy – and has been reduced from £1,690 to £1,014 on Net-A-Porter.
7. Cardiff Castle
We can imagine how many coats Kate has in her wardrobe – this is one of the most popular of the year, the red version by Eponine London (which she wore for the first time in 2021).
Kate wore the dress for a Jubilee visit to Cardiff Castle – and as red is the color of Wales, we can’t imagine her choice was accidental.
8. At Wimbledon
As patron of the All England Club, Kate is a familiar face at Wimbledon – and took Prince George to the Royal Box for the first time this year to watch the men’s final between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios.
Kate kept things simple and summery in a navy blue polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich, the cut reminiscent of the yellow dress she wore in the Bahamas by the same designer.
