Are you afraid of the return of low-rise jeans? Well, the trend might just be for “skinny” people – or so says one plus-size influencer.
A popular TikToker has taken emerging fashion trends for a test drive — think low-tops and high-cuts — in a now-viral series and asks:
Content creator Emma Arletta tried to shape a low-rise maxi dress on her plus-size figure, hoping to prove that some trends are simply aimed at women with model-chic figures.
“I really don’t see women my size,” Arleta says in the clip, which has garnered more than 950,000 views. “And now I know why.”
She fashioned her dress below her belly button on her hip bone like many online influencers but she doesn’t seem to be a fan of the fashion.
While some users commented that she looked stunning, others were not sold on the fashion look.
“Yes I tried it too… it’s a skin trend,” wrote one TikToker.
“I am still affected by the low growth trend [of the] Late 90s/early 2000s,” said another.
“Anything low-rise is a no-no,” agreed another.
“Yeah I see this trend coming back into style and nah… I’m sticking with it with all my heart,” said another.
Arleta, who boasts over 386,000 followers on the platform, regularly shows her followers everything related to fashion – from shopping to trying on viral outfit trends.
But as a fashion influencer, she’s determined to debunk popular fast fashion trends, whether they’re worth the money or just another waning fad.
In other clips, she tries to satisfy social media trends like Emma Chamberlain’s classic fly yoga pants and zip-up hoodie look, Hailey Bieber’s Silk Road collection, an over-the-top monochromatic trend and even a revealing poster girl cut. Jenner once played sports.
Orange, orange, simply the explosion there also did not work well for Arletta, who said that the audience did not think it was “fashionable”.
“You look good even if it’s not fashionable,” wrote one user.
“I personally don’t like the dress on anyone at all, but if you like it, it looks good on you,” agreed another.
“I think she suits this color very well and it’s a hard color to pull off,” said another. “Not only is the dress added to be imo, but you look gorgeous.”
