It’s officially bowl season.
It’s officially football season and that means getting down in front of the TV to watch teams you haven’t seen a second of all season. Things got underway on Friday with the Bahamas Bowl and Medicine Bowl.
Both games feature teams that only hardcore fans and gamblers know a lot about. Six more bowl games were played on Saturday, with teams taking the field for recognition.
To be honest, I didn’t do much on Saturday. That’s largely because we have NFL games on Saturdays this time of year. I watched them.
Saturday NFL games are back!
that’s right. We smell the playoffs when Saturday’s NFL games return, and there were two games with postseason implications.
Both the Vikings and Bills clinched playoff spots in two of the most entertaining games of the season. Technically, the Ravens-Browns game had postseason implications, but without Lamar Jackson in the lineup, Baltimore hasn’t had much of a fight.
The battle came during the Colts-Vikings and Dolphins-Bills games. First for the action in Minnesota. In the first half, Premier League side Kirk Queens looked to be blowing another game away. That was until the NFL gods realized Matt Ryan was the Colts quarterback.
Things began to unravel in the second half as Ryan and the Colts took a 33-0 lead. They scored just three points in the second half, but the Vikings staged an unbelievable comeback.
The game was tied at 36 at the end of regulation. At the end of overtime, Matt Ryan’s name was in the record books for being on the wrong side of the biggest comeback in NFL history. No one blows a lead like Matt Ryan and don’t forget him.
The Bills Mafia enjoyed the snow.
As if the Vikings’ comeback wasn’t enough for one day, the Dolphins and Bills had something for fans as the team played in the middle of a blizzard.
With several inches of snow covering the stands before kickoff, it was only a matter of time before the snowballs started flying. This is the Bills Mafia after all. They see snow and are making snowballs to throw.
Bills fans threw several snowballs at the Dolphins bench, causing the game to be temporarily delayed. It was announced that the bills would be fined if the snowballs continued.
The fans were able to pass enough snowballs through the game. And what a game it was.
Things heated up between the two AFC East rivals as the Bills mounted a fourth quarter comeback. A comeback that ended with a game-winner in the ice to secure their fourth straight playoff appearance.
