California lawmakers are looking at a number of proposals surrounding tech companies in the final days of the state’s legislative session, which ends at midnight Wednesday.
A proposal to require companies to report when they change search results or use their services to target people with political ads is among the pending legislation.
The measure (SB 746) aims to give voters a way to know when the sites they use are trying to change their opinions about candidates or issues. He would mandate disclosure to the Secretary of State.
