FLINT, MI – The Hamilton Community Health Network is celebrating this year’s National Health Center Week with events that focus on strengthening the community.
National Health Center Week is an annual celebration in August to raise awareness of the work and achievements of health centers.
Community health centers are pillars of strength, hope and care within the communities they serve, according to the National Association of Community Health Centers.
This year’s National Health Center Week is August 7-13.
Hamilton’s festive plans will run from Tuesday, August 9 to Friday, August 12. Hamilton continues its commitment to building strong communities with a week of civic engagement.
The free events specifically focus on helping strengthen the community through giving and providing access to communities in need of resources, according to a news release from Hamilton.
A community outreach day is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, in the parking lot of the Hamilton-Flint Clinic, 812 Root St., which is also the Center for Hope.
The event is for community members who are struggling to find a place to call home.
During this event, Hamilton will offer laundry, free showers, socks and underwear, a closet, toiletries, snacks, bottled water, a food truck for lunch, music and entertainment.
Hamilton will host a senior brunch and learn from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Aug. 10, for residents of McFarlan Court Village, 800 E. Court St.
Food, educational sessions, fitness, conversation and health resources will be available. Places are limited to 45 people. Those wishing to participate should RSVP with Lead Outreach Coordinator Tim McCarron at 810-406-4246, ext. 4955.
The final day of celebration is Hamilton’s Annual Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at Hamilton’s Main Clinic, 2900 N. Saginaw St. It will be the “Big Day” of food, live music and raffles. , games, food demos with Chef Nate, health resources and more. The event is free to the public.
