Martin Rose is seen by PT Uomo
In January, British designer Martin Rose will transform London into Florence, presenting his A/W 2023 collection at the historic menswear trade show PT Uomo (as this season’s guest designer, he follows luminaries such as Raf Simons, Jonathan Anderson, Craig Green, Grace Wells Bonner and more). The site will be the city’s Loggia del Mercato Nuovo, a 16th-century market known for its leather goods and antiques. ‘PT was celebrating men’s design and a lot of designers I respect were part of it,’ Rose said. ‘We are all very excited to be coming to my favorite city, Florence, with our next collection.’

Daniel Lee arrived at Burberry
In the year In October 2022, British designer Daniel Lee – formerly creative director of Bottega Veneta – was announced as the successor to Riccardo Ticci Burberry, who left the heritage brand as chief creative officer in September. Lee released a campaign titled ‘Burberry Classics’ with long-time collaborator Tyrone Libon a few weeks ago and will show his Burberry collection in February 2023 as part of London Fashion Week. He told America that his vision for the British stalwart had so far been eclipsed. In the year Opening on May 5, 2023, the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute in New York will celebrate the life and work of Karl Lagerfeld, who at Balmain, Patou, Chloe, Fendi and, most famously, Chanel, made him one of the main characters of fashion. He was the Hitchcock of fashion. At an event in Paris in September 2022, Andrew Bolton, director of the Fashion Institute, said that Carl’s representation was always on the runway. The exhibition will be titled ‘Karl Lagerfeld’s Beauty Line’ and sponsored by Chanel and Fendi. Also, the typically star-studded guest list channeled the Met Gala theme as they interpreted Lagerfeld’s designs in their own red carpet looks.

Lagerfeld’s great-grandmother Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel will be the subject of her own exhibition in London, ‘Gabrielle Chanel, Fashion Manifesto’ at the V&A from September 16, 2023, the first British exhibition to celebrate the work of the French couturier and its subsequent influence on women’s clothing today. Covering more than 180 looks from 1910-1971, the comprehensive exhibition covers accessories, cosmetics and perfumes and is sure to follow on from the success of the museum’s previous fashion exhibitions (‘Christian Dior: Dreams Designer’ and ‘Alexander McQueen’). Among them: savage beauty.

Plates, please Issey Miyake – the offshoot of the Japanese brand whose often daring sounds showcase Miyake’s unique technical prowess – marks three decades since its arrival in May 2023, first seen as part of the late Miyake S/S 1994 collection. Running under the motto ‘Design is not for philosophy, but for life’, the lightweight, wrinkle-resistant garments have since gained a cult following. To celebrate, a small capsule collection will be released by the brand, including a colorful new limited edition.
