Two professors from the Department of Industrial Engineering recently traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina, to visit North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Burak Eksioglu, professor and chair of the graduate program, and Ed Pohl, professor and department chair, met with undergraduate students in an effort to recruit graduate students.
The team gave a presentation covering the opportunities available with the Department of Industrial Engineering at the U of A for undergraduate seniors. They also participated in the Freshman Innovation Challenge while on campus. The primary purpose for trips of this nature is to reach out and recruit some of the best students from schools underrepresented in the U of A College of Engineering.
About the Department of Industrial Engineering: The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas was founded in 1950, led by department head John L. Imhoff who believed deeply in the global impact of industrial engineering. Today, the department averages over 200 undergraduate students and over 40 doctoral and master’s students.
