January is always the time for clothes shoppers in Spain to find bargains in the big sales.
Once Three Kings Friday is out of the way, the following day sees the official start of the winter sales, which run until March.
Some big chains are already offering discounts but most will wait until January 7 (Saturday) – the start of the traditional New Year sales.
Although the 2012 Trade Act stipulates two main sales periods of the year, individual retailers have the ability to decide when exactly they should start and end.
January’s sales will see discounts of up to 70% on selected items, but warnings have been issued that the current economic climate could result in fewer great deals in the autumn.
As for the dates, the main Inditex chain, including Zara, Oysho, Pull & Bear, Stradivarius, Lefties and Massimo Dutti, will start offering deals on January 6 at 8:00 a.m. and online in their stores.
Inditex store sales will run until March 7.
Tendam Group, which has brands such as Springfield and Women’s Secret, will run its campaign until Saturday, March 7.
The El Corte Inglés group has been offering discounts of up to 40%, including at Sfera stores, which ends Wednesday.
It will start again this Saturday with a new set of sales.
Swedish-owned H&M launched on Tuesday, while Mango launched a discount on December 29.
