Gran Turismo teams up with Dior to create bespoke racing gear and De Tommaso Mangusta.
High fashion and racing games don’t mix? Think again. In a surprise announcement yesterday at the Gran Turismo World Series in Salzburg, Austria, the world’s biggest selling racing producer, Polyphony Digital, has announced a partnership with luxury fashion brand Dior. It is the first imaginative fashion project for Dior Couture, creating an exclusive new series of in-game items, including racing apparel, helmets, gloves and shoes, with the brand’s artistic director of men’s collections, Kim Jones.
The Gran Turismo industry leader using computer graphics, the World Series event, yesterday unveiled a sophisticated video featuring the Dior oblique pattern and the Christian Dior atelier in a yellow and gray racing car designed by Dior in Salzburg. The beige and gray De Tommaso accentuates the yellow and gray Dior suit.
First built in 1967 is the De Tommaso Mangusta Special Edition, which also features a subtle two-tone mystery livery. Originally penned by renowned Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, the De Tomaso is powered by a 4.9 liter Ford-sourced V8. The beige and gray car also sports the number “47” as well as special Dior decals. These items will be available in the game on August 25th, we can expect a game update on this date.
