What is the BIND 4.0 Open Innovation and Acceleration Program?
Since the program was launched in 2016, more than 130 startups have been accelerated and more than 200 projects have been developed with BIND 4.0, amounting to more than 6.5 million euros. Basque-based startup Ikustec develops machine vision solutions for the advanced manufacturing industry, providing high-precision metrology. In their BIND 4.0 pilot project, Equitech developed a vision machine optimized for the factory process at Tubasex. The start-up-corporate project extended beyond the 24-week BIND 4.0 acceleration cycle, and Equitech continues to work with Tubacex as a customer for two years.
Acoustic Extra Freezing (AFF) from Finland, in 2021, partnered with local food industry leaders, Angus Aginga, in a startup and corporate partnership. AFF has worked on a pilot project to demonstrate a new refrigeration technology that helps keep frozen foods fresh. Their project continues beyond the BIND 4.0 Acceleration cycle with various time trials and feed types.
In fact, 6 out of 10 startup alumni sign a second contract with their corporate venture client, a statistical proof of BIND 4.0 helping to increase market penetration and provide ongoing business opportunities.
