FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — DFW Airport’s latest terminal expansion features amenities not yet available at any other airport in the country in hopes of making your next trip easier and safer.
Four newly remodeled gates in Terminal C offer a glimpse into the future at DFW Airport.
“Place an order for any restaurant in the airport and deliver it to the gate, and if you’re lucky, you might see a robot deliver it to you,” said Kenneth Buchanan, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Customer Management. DFW Airport Experience.
From the way you receive your meals to the air you breathe, the airport is using the latest technological innovations to improve the travel experience.
“This has the latest UV technology in HVAC systems, so the air that circulates here is contaminant-free and clean,” Buchanan said.
The terminal expansion also includes smart toilets for all passengers and a new option for smaller travelers.
“Obviously this is where a lot of parents travel with young children,” said Addie Gundry, founder and CEO of Pluie, the world’s first and only self-sanitizing diaper changing table. “They’re in there for a long time. It’s not always the most relaxing thing and they always have to change diapers.”
DFW is the first airport to install Pluie, which disinfects the changing table in 60 seconds.
“Every time you close the table, Pluie’s patented UV-C light system goes to work to eliminate harmful bacteria and viruses to protect children,” Gundry said.
Gundry says this is a testament to the airport’s commitment to health and safety.
“DFW is saying hey we know you’re here, we know you have little kids, we want to make it as pleasant as possible,” she said.
The shower is just one of the improvements passengers may begin to see at other terminals as they are being built or renovated.
“We’re always trying to be on that cutting edge when it comes to innovation,” Buchanan said.
The four new gates are the start of Terminal C renovations as the airport prepares to build nine new gates.
