MERIDIAN, MISS. (WTOK) – Air travel is back in full swing since the onset of COVID-19, but there are still some growing pains affecting everyone’s travel plans.
Air travel has always had issues with weather delays, cancellations, and even maintenance, but since returning to travel, flying across the country has been painless. COVID-19 shut down many trips, leading to job losses. Meaning the pilots, flight attendants and baggage handlers were all released, but now everyone is traveling again, these problems could be long.
“The pilots union said there were seven thousand new pilots in the United States last year. Well that’s very true, it’s like saying seven thousand babies were born. They’re not ready to go to work, yet you have years of experience needed before they can go to work,” said Meridian Airport Authority President Tom Williams.
Flights across the country are being delayed and even canceled, but here at Meridian everything is on time.
