We get it: staffing shortages, supply chain issues and the work-from-home debate can dominate your work-related internal office meetings.
However, these issues should not make you forget about one particular event that can disrupt your business – even shut it down – in seconds: a cyber attack.
That’s why the Meadowlands Chamber is hosting a Cyber Summit Wednesday morning at Felician University in Rutherford (register here).
The panel will include three federal agents — representatives from the FBI, Homeland Security and Secret Service — along with a contractor with the Department of Defense and Felician professor Mazdak Zamani, who specializes in cybersecurity at the Felician business school.
Meadowlands Chamber CEO Jim Kirkos said the goal is not only to remind businesses that cyber threats are still prevalent, but to give leaders actionable articles that will help prevent them.
“Many businesses underestimate the cybersecurity threat that is so pervasive today,” Kirkos said. “The organization of this Cyber Summit will hopefully attract the attention of business leaders and owners to protect their businesses.
“Every day, hundreds of millions of dollars are lost to ransomware attacks and the theft of critical data.”
Michael Knauss, Meadowlands Chamber advocacy and membership experience team leader, said the idea for the event came from members.
“During a roundtable meeting with small business owners, the topic of business threats came up: the same word kept coming up: cyber,” he said.
“We recognize that the issue is not going away and, as a business service organization, we need to be on top of that and provide resources and education to our members.”
Here’s a look at the panelists:
- Terence Reilly: Special Agent in Charge, FBI;
- Sandeep Singh: Special Agent, Homeland Security;
- Scott Keenan: Assistant Technical Staff, Secret Service;
- Mike Battistella: Contractor, Department of Defense;
- Mazdak Zamani: Professor of Cyber Security, Felician University.
