With COVID-19 infections on the rise along with flu and RSV, it’s good to know that Sandra Lindsay of Northwell Health is on the case — once again warning Americans about the importance of disease prevention.
The well-known Jamaican-born health professional was profiled by media outlets across the country last Wednesday, as they marked the two-year anniversary of her volunteering for America’s first approved coronavirus vaccine. Lindsay has been an outspoken and sought-after champion of preventative health. Her COVID-19 shot was one of more than 750,000 shots given at Northwell since the pandemic.

The recipient of many honors, Lindsay’s pioneering actions were also recognized by President Biden, who presented her with the Distinguished Americans for US Citizenship and Immigration Award and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Lindsay’s passionate and consistent message about prevention hasn’t changed over the past two years, but the registered nurse took on a new role in October — vice president of public health advocacy — which includes addressing the many health disparities highlighted by COVID -19 pandemics.
