CHARLOTTE – When looking for a career in tech, it pays to live in traditional innovation centers like Silicon Valley or Boston.
But don’t count Charlotte out.
Emerging hubs like Phoenix and Charlotte are closing the gap with some of the fastest-growing tech salaries in the country, according to Dice — a tech career marketplace and job board. It’s another example of how changing migration patterns and the growth of entrepreneurial ecosystems outside of legacy markets are shaping the technology sector.

The Dice report noted how migration trends in the age of Covid-19, such as individuals moving from expensive coastal markets to more affordable areas, are shaping tech wages.
The Sun Belt has been one of the big winners in that migration pattern – and it showed in Dice’s analysis.
