Buying second hand is becoming more popular than ever and it’s sustainable for good reason. It’s good for the planet, better for your wallet and good for supporting local economies. From 1995 Rags Consignments It is a powerhouse in the local secondhand market and carries women’s and men’s boutique and designer brands. Between two places –Boulder and Cherry Creek–Rags delivers an average of 2,500 highly collected items per weekoffering a unique second-hand shopping experience.
You may have found yourself wearing someone else’s clothes before, but At Rags, you can browse the closets of hundreds of consignors from all over the state. Get classic, standout pieces at a fraction of the original price while extending the life of each piece you purchase.
In November, Rags is proud to present a runway segment for Denver Fashion Week’s Sustainable Night. Using items taken directly from the store’s inventory and Designed for the runway by Kimberly Rayfieldmanager at Cherry Creek area, Rags showed how wide a selection the store has. The fall collection presented in 2018 Unhappiness with women’s fashion in the 1920s was mixed with the 1980s aesthetic that we now know as vulgarity. Adult models of all ages, genders and sizes walked the runway wearing second-hand items from designer and aftermarket brands, all with price tags to fit any budget.
Our collective goal should always be to make fashion circular, and if you’re in the Denver or Boulder area, you can start by simply choosing to shop at Rags. Doing two things good for the planet at once: shopping sustainably and supporting local small business. If we are intentional about what we buy and what we buy, we can perpetuate the cycle.
Visit one of Rags’ locations in Boulder and Cherry Creek and you can help make the fashion industry part of the solution instead of part of the problem…all while building the closet of your dreams.
