LUBBOCK, Texas. – Texas Tech pole vault Zach Bradford was named the Big 12 Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.
Bradford became Tech’s youngest indoor record holder with a distance of 5.72m (18-9 ¼) last Friday. Before that clean, the Illinois native first broke the school record at 5.67m (18-7 ¼) on his final attempt. The record was previously held by Brandon Bray in 2020 at 5.62 m (18-5 ¼).
The record came in Bradford’s second meet as a Red Raider and his mark currently leads the NCAA and Big 12.
Bradford becomes the third Red Raider to be honored with a weekly award this season. Last week, Rosemary Chukwuma AND Courtney Lindsey received the honor for TTU.
