The business
As compliance and tax tasks become more automated, accountants are experiencing a greater demand for advisory services to support clients and generate additional revenue. Short It is on a mission to bring next-generation advice to accountants through an easy-to-use platform.
While accountants are often viewed as trusted advisors, especially for small businesses, there is a gap between traditional accounting services and advisory support focused around business goals and growth opportunities.
By changing the way accountants work, Brieff enables them to move from ad-hoc advice to an embedded, strategic partner to their clients.
The brief makes it easier for accountants to move into consultancy and develop this aspect of their offering. Accountants using the platform will receive a “brief” in their inbox containing talking points, suggested questions, and ways to improve their business based on their clients’ goals.
Antler investment thesis
“Briff’s CFO supports accountants in a box infrastructure but also supports high-value and consulting services for small business customers. The difference with other market offerings is that here the accountant is the customer, not just the channel,” said Kat Rogers, partner at Antler Australia.
“Short’s early market traction is a testament to a recognizable, customer-centric product and the strength of its founding team.”
To date drag/executives
Brieff worked closely with a group of 12 accountants as part of the Early Adopters Communication Program, which has now evolved into a strategic partnership.
A beta version of the product will launch next year.

say the founders
“There is a huge opportunity and urgent need to support accountants with their advisory services. “What we’re excited about at Brieff is the opportunity to bring a valuable B2B SasS product into the hands of accountants that can make an impact quickly,” said Kate Shanahan, Co-Founder and CEO of Brieff.
“Antler Brief has allowed us to grow faster and smarter than ever before. Being a part of the Antler community – full of like-minded founders – is an incredible support network early on in the journey.
“Often, only the highest levels of entrepreneurship are shared. The Antler community has created a space for founders to support each other at the high level and, most importantly, at the low level. We would not be where we are today without Antler’s support.”
