Bendet launched her brand in 2011. The sophisticated lifestyle collection includes gowns, shoes and ready-to-wear. Celebrity supporters included Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Gigi Hadid. The label showcased vintage formal wear at their February 2023 fashion show.
New York’s glamorous Highline Stages hosted the event. Sponsors include Nick Stenson Beauty, Too Faced Cosmetics and JINSoon. The clothing theme ‘Scatter Stripes’ tapped into early 2000s and Y2K styles. Another theme was ‘Rock and Roll History’ which brought 90’s grunge with vegan leather jackets. Models sported eye-catching fashions in bright colors.
Model Devon Windsor wowed the audience in a toffee vegan leather trench coat. Tayshia Williams was more casual: a bright red cardigan, blue jeans and white boots. Bendet and model Coco Rocha model active ready-to-wear collections.
Rocha’s monochrome blue trouser-suit played with ’70s style. The look featured flared sleeves and a strapless triangle crop top. Rocha’s pants featured wide flared legs. Bendet wore a gold and blue cardigan. He clung to her black top and bell-bottoms. The long sweater complimented her silver belt. The ‘modern glamour’ theme featured similar looks.
A black and gold tweed blazer wowed the crowd. The jacket has fringe and chain details. Bendet paired a black satin bustier with a gold sequin mini skirt and a black vegan jacket. The skort served as an assertive and dramatic piece. Bendet discussed American achievements in the fashion industry.
“We create denim and lead the way in defining pop culture,” she said. Her theme ‘Denim Couture’ redefines the retro trends of the 90s. The black tulle strapless mini gown gave an elegant and formal look. Bendet paired the Mirror Clay Bustier with a Jeff Lace Dim Oversized Jacket and black low-rise JC pants. She combines classic Americana styles with vintage snack images.
In one landscape, the classic snack sees huge proportions. Images of buttery popcorn and sweet potato chips enticed attendees. Another piece of art depicts a classic American road trip. The ’90s Jeep took center stage. Memories of the road trip left attendees nostalgic. Bendet discussed the inclusion of the ancient icon.
The high-profile designer did not want to comment on an icon. Instead, Bendet exclaims, “All kinds of women are role models.”
