A new investigation by Greenpeace Germany has determined that Chinese fashion brand SHEIN’s products, including fashion apparel, gadgets and accessories, pose health risks and are illegal.
According to the Danish tabloid media Ekstra Bladet, SHEIN has become extremely popular and has grown exponentially, offering thousands of new designs daily to young people and children on social media.
The results of the investigation are based on 47 SHEIN products, 15 of which contain hazardous chemicals. Five of the products breached EU legislation by 100% and most of the products contained sufficient levels of chemicals to cause concern.
Viola Wolgemuth, who works on toxics and economy campaigns at Greenpeace, says Sheen is recklessly breaking EU law.
– Shin products containing dangerous chemicals flood the European market and violate laws that are not enforced by the authorities. But it’s the suppliers of the shale, the people of neighboring communities and the workers in the Chinese area who bear the brunt of the shale’s dangerous chemical addiction, Wohlgemuth said.
Shen was founded in China in 2008 and uses TikTok to gain popularity by getting influencers to promote his clothing line.
Shin is available in many countries around the world, from Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam to Sweden, Finland and Denmark.
