Public speaking skill is the fuel that feeds our dreams and drives us to succeed, and the right Public speaking skill can change the mindset of your clients from an arbitrary collection of dos and don’ts to a pit stop that will breathe new life into your business and in career. A true Public speaker can evoke an aura of leadership and expertise that provides the fuel for dreams; he also provides the vehicle needed to achieve those dreams. Public speaking is something most people try to avoid and even dread. However, at times in my life, I have found myself having to deliver a speech, so I needed to learn the best way of doing this. In this article, I write about what I learnt from reading many books and after teaching to numerous of my students the art of public speaking, which has helped me to successfully deliver a talk on Ted-X Talks and other several events.

Many people get very nervous before and during their presentations or speech. It can have an adverse effect on our breathing and can leave us out of breath. When you feel anxious, it is a good idea to remember to take regular breaths while talking. In my opinion, you should be breathing in one to two sentences. The nerves will make our muscles contract and make your chest feel tight. It is a natural reaction, and it is a good idea to take a few deep breaths before starting your talk to help you to relax and focus on your topic.

When you start your speech, You should ensure that you have a focal point in the room that can inspire you. This could be a picture at the back of the room or a window. Sometimes you may lose your focus and need to remember what you want to say. This focal point can help to get you back on track.

I look at the eyes of the people in the audience who are curious to learn from you. Usually, these kinds of people are available in all of your talks. If not, then don’t focus on their eyes, Look on their forehead. Just make them think that you are tough, as it can be a sign of nerves if they believe I am unable to.

Even though I plan what I am going to say, I do not intend it word for word. Instead, I write down keywords or key subjects on paper or you can use your mobile, which I keep in my pocket if I need to look at them. This then ensures I remember what I want to say and allows me to ad-lib. The speech will also now not sound as robotic and boring as it might have if I had memorized it word for word.

I always like to start a public speech with a short joke or Question, which can act as an icebreaker. I remember a speech I gave a few years ago, and it was at the School ceremony to which I was invited as chief guest. The people in front of me were lecturers, Teachers and Parents, and I should inspire everyone. So I began with a timid story and put lessons for Lecturers and parents. The speech would only have to last for about fifteen minutes and would be in front of around one hundred people. It was how I started the talk, and I would like to thank Lecturer, Teacher who put effort into progressing students like me. I praised the teachers, gave some valuable advice to parents and ended with a joke. However, a couple of people did laugh. It gave me a bit of extra confidence and helped to relax me.

I also advise people to talk slower than they usually do when delivering a public speech. It has helped me tremendously over the years. This brief of my teaching will help you to deliver a quality public speech. And also I provide Intensive training for Public speaking pupils and Mastery in English language development at our esteemed centre Knowledge Village Institute in Hyderabad.
