Memphis, TN – Malik Williams, 26, has been sentenced to 228 months in federal prison for committing
multiple business robberies. Joseph C. Murphy, Jr., United States Attorney announced the sentence
today.
According to court documents and information in the record, on June 28, 2019, Malik
Williams, Decardo Moore and Joshua Beason robbed several gas stations in the Memphis area. IN
around 2 a.m. Williams, Moore and Beason went to the Murphy Express on Summer Avenue.
Williams and Beason put a handgun to a store employee’s arm, forced him into the store, and
threatened the lives of both store clerks. They took money from the register and ran away. Moore served
as a getaway driver.
Approximately thirty minutes later, Williams and Beason robbed the Exxon on Summer Avenue. they
brandished firearms and removed the cash drawer before fleeing the scene. Moore served as
departure driver. Minutes later, the group participated in a 2000 West Block home invasion
Barbara County where a resident, Williams and Moore were shot. All three survived. Fees for
Home invasions are pending for all three defendants before the state of Tennessee.
Williams went on trial in June 2022 and was found guilty of both the business robberies and the use of
firearms during robberies.
On September 9, 2022, United States District Judge Sheryl H. Lipman sentenced Williams to 228
months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. This sentence will be
consecutive to any conviction received by the State of Tennessee for
pending home invasion charges.
On October 25, 2021, Moore pleaded guilty to four counts of robbery and four counts of battery
firearm in connection with a crime of violence. U.S. District Judge Mark S. Norris sentenced Moore
life in federal prison plus 21 years.
On May 14, 2021, Joshua Beason was sentenced to 293 months in federal prison. There is no parole
the federal system.
